Why it takes 5 years to build a house in Costa Rica.

Did it really take 5 years to build Villa Paraiso?  YES!  Why?  Painstaking old world craftmanship.  Below are just a few of the construction pictures.  Everything, including the tons of Rebar and concrete had to come from San Jose.  At the time, the new beach road had not yet opened and everything had to come over an 11,000 foot mountain.

Dear Dr. Paul,

I wanted to say thank you from our entire family for our stay at your beautiful Casa Paraiso in Costa Rica. We had a wonderful time!!!!! There are truly no words that can adequately describe your home! It is magnificent!!! My husband's a luxury custom home builder so we really enjoyed all the details you put into the architectural design of the home. You also must have had a wonderful interior designer because it looks just like a model home! And the views and sunsets were spectacular! We all said that it was like heaven on earth- truly paradise! JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! We arrived after dark so we were all so excited to wake up to the gorgeous views the next morning!! It took our breath away! Your property manager Laurence was awesome! She greeted us when we got there and introduced us to Edisey and the chef, Roger, who we hired for the week. Both were a real treat for us!!! Edisey could not have been sweeter and she was always so pleasant. Our chef Roger did an incredible job and we truly felt spoiled. It's the first vacation we have ever taken where all the girls didn't have to cook!! My daughters and daughter-in-laws are ruined now!!! Laurence also arranged some massages and ziplining tours for us. She was a doll!!! For fishing, the guys ended up driving an hour and a half north of us because the only fishing guide that we found that specialized in spearfishing was located there. The guys had a great time and speared a lot of big fish although they said the free dives were hard and tiring as they had to dive 60 feet deep and against a strong current. They still had a great time but were pretty tired by the time they got back to the house at 9pm. They also went offshore fishing later in the week and caught 2 big sails and one nearly 6' Dorado which my daughter caught. She was excited!!! Lots of great pictures!!! My grandson who is 6 also wnet and caught about 12 small tunas which we had for the sashimi the next night. The little kids and babies had a great time playing in the pool all day and behaved themselves very well when inside the house. They also loved the resident Iguana that lived by the pool! We got to enjoy 3 movies in the theater which was great after a long day in the sun. We did go down to the beach but didn't stay too long because it was nap time for the babies. The guys stayed longer because they talked one of the locals into taking them out in a panga boat and they speared alot more fish for dinner! We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday on Monday night while Roger prepared Lobster for the event. Andy said it was his best birthday ever- such a beautiful home overlooking the Pacific surrounded by the whole family! A real blessing! Saturday, the day we left, we went to Manuel Antonios park and had a ball seeing the monkeys and the beautiful beaches there. Then we went on to spend Saturday night near the airport as we had a early morning flight out on Sunday morning. We attached a short video of us all thanking you for having us at your home so be sure to watch it. Thank you again so much for such a wonderful, wonderful time. It could not have been more perfect!!!!!!!! We will all have the memories of a lifetime!!

Warmest Regards and God bless you,

Darlene S. and family

SUNSETS VILLA PARAISO STYLE

Never the same, the sunsets in front of the house are spectacular.  Each evening the clouds float down from mountains behind the house.  As the sun sets, the rays begin to shine upward and are reflected by the underside of the clouds.  As this point the effect is like fireworks!  Every shade of red imaginable begins to light up the sky.  Add to this effect, a high tide and the mist begins to capture the rays as the colors change from red to blue to violet.  Sitting back on the veranda enjoying a glass of wine, you will surely think you have found paradise.

Bird Watching in Dominical

Birds, birds, and more birds!  And monkeys and a whole lot more will make any nature lover feel at home.  At Villa Paraiso our back yard is the Pacific Ocean and our front yard is Costa Rica's most pristine coastal rainforest. These pictures were taken while exploring the miles of hiking trails surrounding the house. In addition, 5 minutes away is Hacienda Baru, a wonder nature preserve with guided tours and spectacular zip line adventures: http://www.haciendabaru.com/
